Modelling:
This video shows the up to date PCB designs, and a slightly older 3D model in Autodesk Fusion. The instruments faceplate is made with a Printed Circuit Board, this allows for precise and complex designs to be printed such as the spherical harmonic diagrams.
The harmonic depictions make use of the multiple layers on a typical PCB. The beige colour is bare FR4, where the solder mask and silkscreen have been removed on either side of the board. Bare FR4 is slightly transluscent - in the final design this will be leveraged to show the amplitude of each ‘particle’. The black silkscreen is an additional layer normally used for naming individual components, it is deposited similarly to a FDM 3D printer. In this case, I have used it to print the paramater names as well as the second tone in the spherical harmonic drawings.
